HOW TO SURVIVE HIGH SCHOOL

HOW TO SURVIVE HIGH SCHOOL
By Lindelwa Tshabalala

Beginning high school seems to be one of the most
challenging experiences for all freshmen since it a new world,
or so they say? High school is all about making choices; it prepares
you for collage or better yet, life!
First of all, to all you nervous grade eight learners…take a deep
breath this is not a court session but a place which elevates you
to either manhood or womanhood! A place for change and its up to you
to change for good or bad!
These are five important points to know during the next five
years of your high school years.

Friends: You can’t choose your family Members but you can
defiantly choose
Friends. In high school having the right friends is highly
important so try by all means to ‘scheme’ good people, you
don’t Necessary need to share hobbies with them but as long
as you feel free supported and loved. That’s it!
School: It won’t be the same as primary school , there is lot
of work
as the grades grow but try not to be not too serious because more
challenging grades will come! Give yourself enough time to learn
and begin eyeing on the subjects you like.
Respect: This is very important. You need to respect yourself, your
friends, family, community and even your schoolmates. This will help
you finish school sooner and easier.
Love : This might be personal but sure does affect you everyday.
Best thing you can do for yourself is not to search for love in loveless
places. Rather wait for love than to search for it. It will come, just
sooner or later…Remember now you still a student, what matters the
most is your schoolwork. If you love yourself enough you will be loved
in more pleasant ways, that include looking for popularity, you don’t
have to be disrespectful to gain popularity among your peers and community.
Fun: Have fun everyday, ungazoba serious…This is a lifetime
opportunity, loosen up. Learn to swallow your ego now and ask for
help. Participate in life , you only got five years to be a kid
and learn from the mistakes you might make. ENJOY!

Some people make it -some do not!

As you begin reading this column. Please don’t take this like: Some people –some are sad. But some people are happy- some are not!
This is because you might not be happy or sad but other feelings like – confused. Some people are in love – some are not! Some people win – so do not! One of the people and the others are not. Some people allow themselves to feel- some do not!

Some of us die living some do not! I can write this kind of things the whole day to show how deep they are. They are the little things that define us as human. We defiantly cannot be on the same side. Which side do you fall onto and why? It is all up to us to live our lives. God gave us the power, it just up to us to live and use it to the fullest. It doesn’t matter which side you fell on, but the most important thing is that we are all different- How come some people are happy and some are not .

If we find a reason or the reasons to that we will start making our lives. A life of a person who wakes up in the morning and either go to work or school will defiantly be not the same as the person who only wake up as late as 9am to watch TV and hang around with so called ‘friends’. You’re more than 10% of the people you hang out with, but the most important thing is- we are what we design for ourselves! Some people listen forget- some do not!

This passion is killing me!

By Lindelwa Tshabalala

I can’t take it anymore,
I know I can-
Why do I have to school-?
When this passion is popping off my head?
I want to make my dreams come true-
Now! I want to do everything I want,
Now!
This passion is killing me!
I can’t take a book to study the science
While I know my heart is in the Art
So different worlds-
Where are people like me?
Why is there only one or two people
Who understand me- Not so well!
This passion in me is better than love
This passion in me is more amazing than Getting all As!
I want to make my dreams come true –
Now!
It’s killing me like soldiers at war
It is murdering me like a bomb
Falling-
The people on the same page as me
Are too far-
They’re found on the deep internet pages-
I can’t seem, to trust people
They don’t understand my passion
They lack the fever!
They want to be scientists
They want to be loved by their lovers
But all I want to do is to make my dreams
Come true
The passion is poisoning me

My first story to be published (hard copy)

Siyamukela High school

I was in this place for five years. I grew from a child into a taught teenager.

Take the words not the faces

By Lindelwa Tshabalala

Let’s say you see an old drunken man who comes to you as you buy a bottle of beer with your friends, “Child, Don’t do that! It will destroy you!” Probably many of us will roll our eyes and continue buying-Like; he’s drunk and he’s telling you not to- come on! But that’s where we get it all wrong! We take a look at faces not at the words offered by them.

It might happen that person is now forced to drink because of medical reasons. The next thing is you look like him few years down the lane! Listening skills are very important in our lives it part of reason we have newspapers and other media tools because at times a message can’t be delivered with just a voice because we don’t listen much so we end up given papers to read which can be kept as reminders. I’ve come to realize how much I judge [people at first sight-as for me I’ll say it’s my nature but as from the past days I’ve decided to allow myself to learn something new from each and every person I meet, no matter how they look. Looks are deceiving. A proper looking person may be the one who kill dreams, the one who actually knows less! I would advice you to once or twice have a chat with that old lady in the taxi- Yes, even if you are the hottest sixteen year old boy! Talk to that guy who’s always at the corner or at the shop. For myself I learnt that they had dreams too just like you and I I would advice you to once or twice have a chat with that old lady in the taxi- Yes, even if you are the hottest sixteen year old boy! Talk to that guy who’s always at the corner or at the shop. For myself I learnt that they had dreams too just like you and I.

Some had given up and most of them are still striving for them .Oh, yes they are eager to talk and advice you! Then just for interest’s sake also have a chat with that ‘clean’ person you know-compare the conversations. I hope you learn a lesson.

First impressions never get lost!

By Lindelwa Tshabalala

Hello- I find this as a necessity for one to introduce them in a new setting, a column to me. Few weeks ago I realized that even magazines have personalities- Some magazines are scared to lay out the truth and some are really not! Some are casual, some are formal. That is what separate each and everyone of us, doing and not- but I’m not there!

The reason I named this space ,Deep life is because you and I are going to dig out the little aspects of life that make us who we are. So as I begin writing this I hope that each time you read this , you can discover its personality as a non-depressing corner but the one that makes you think a little and change you just a little! I am Lindelwa Mantua Kuhle Buyi Ntombikayise Tshabalala. Yeah, quite a bizarre thing to have five names. I don’t think things average but I go just a few extra miles with my thoughts. Through this column I hope to help build a better mother, father ,sister , brother and citizen of the country and the world! I have deep passion for words because I believe they have the power to make or break. They are a drug and a healer. Each word inked make a difference , take for example between like and love. Most of us confuse the two, if you like you just have an interest and curiosity of that thing, but when you love, you just don’t have a reason but it occurs! Words can cease or commence something huge.

The next time you hear life changing words , don’t let them pass you by but include them in your life! My biggest hope is that the words I’ll write here would not be another waste of ink, but inspire, change, educate and bring fun to each and everyone of you!
